the 6 Best Dog Crate End Tables to Match Your Space

What can you do if you don’t want an unsightly metal dog crate spoiling the look of your home? We suggest that you invest in a dog crate that’s designed like an end table. These will look more like a natural part of the room rather than a piece of dog equipment.

In general, smaller dogs are better suited to this style of a crate. Aggressive chewers will usually work their way through the bars of these crates, but well-trained dogs love them. We were curious about which dog crate end tables will stand up to heavy use, so we put them to the test.

How We Narrowed Down the Best Dog Crate End Tables

Dog sitting next to crate end table
Dog crate end tables blend in with your decor while giving your dog a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

While searching for the best dog crate end table, we considered top brands known for their ability to be cleaned easily, assembled easily, and moved around. We also wanted to find crate end tables that look great in the home.

We started by looking at crates that vets and trainers recommend. We made sure we understood what qualities are important in a safe and effective crate.  We then looked at the players in the field of dog crate end tables.

We also looked into design innovators. Some brands like Lugenia, Casual Home, and Petsfit distinguished themselves by adding flair to an otherwise conservative landscape.

We wanted to include a range of colors, designs, materials, and shapes to help you better decide what you wanted in your home. We looked at how design could impact your decor.

We also considered durable dog crates suitable for all types of dogs, including aggressive chewers and puppies. With this in mind, we made sure that non-wood products did not contain toxins harmful to canines.

Finally, we searched the internet for top-rated dog crate end tables that owners love for both form and function. We looked at home design products and other top crates from online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Chewy.

We finally chose 10 of the top crates and put them to the test. We loved 6 of them enough to recommend and added 2 as honorable mentions. We’ll get right down to business and tell you what dog crate end tables we loved and why.

1. Best Overall: New Age Pet End Table

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly4/5
Easy to Clean5/5
Maneuverability5/5

Dimensions: 29.5 x 21.1 x 25.2 inches | Weight: 35 pounds | Brand: New Age Pet | Material: Plastic wood polymer composite | Dogs: All Breeds

What We Liked

  • Choose from a range of four sizes
  • Made from recycled materials, so it’s eco-friendly and cleanable
  • Bars are aluminum which discourages chewing

What We Didn’t Like

  • Some reviews complain about strength, but we think this is a robust crate
  • Not everyone likes the plastic composition of this crate, but it looks like wood

Our favorite dog crate end table comes from New Age Pet, so what makes it stand out?

Firstly, the fact it doesn’t stand out is the key selling point. The last thing you want is a large crate inside the house, even if it does happen to contain your precious pup. This crate looks more like a traditional end table so it blends in rather than making a jarring addition to the room.

We loved that the crate comes in 4 sizes to suit dogs from small through extra-large while keeping the look sleek and attractive.

We noted that the crate is made from an eco-friendly material called Ecoflex. This is a recycled plastic material that is easy to clean, non-toxic, and completely sustainable. Given a crate’s intended purpose, you’ll be delighted to know that Ecoflex is hardwearing, too.

We did some minor assembly when our crate arrived, but we didn’t need any tools or special skills to get the job done.

Aside from a few gripes about boisterous dogs making light work of this crate, we feel it makes the best choice for anyone looking for a dog crate resembling an end table suitable for small and medium-sized dogs.

2. Best to Blend with Casual Furniture: Casual Home Wooden Pet Crate

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly5/5
Easy to Clean4/5
Maneuverability4/5

Dimensions: 27.5 x 20 x 24 inches | Weight: 28.25 pounds | Brand: Casual Home | Material: Wood | Dogs: Small Breeds

What We Liked

  • Made from natural wood
  • Very easy to assemble

What We Didn’t Like

  • Made for dogs 25 pounds and under
  • Strong varnish smell at first
  • Some dogs might chew through the wooden slats

If you didn’t like the look of the plastic crate we kicked off with, we have an all-wooden offering up next, this time from Casual Home.

We loved this crate. It is made in Thailand, and the solid wooden build is designed to stop dogs from chewing through the bars. However, for dogs who love to chew on wood, this crate will not keep them from chewing through.

This crate is available in 5 sizes to suit small to very large dogs. We found that this crate doesn’t need much assembly, so we were up and running with this crate in minutes.

We loved the look of this crate. We set it up as an end table and were surprised when several visitors were in our home for a few minutes before realizing our dog was inside.

There’s a small but effective safety latch that should prevent your dog from pushing out of the crate. This is one of the best and most cost-effective wooden dog crates out there.

3. Most Like a Dog House: Petsfit Wooden Dog House

Petsfit Wooden Dog House

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly4/5
Easy to Clean3/5
Maneuverability4/5

Dimensions: 31.5 x 21.5 x 21 inches | Weight: 5.64 ounces | Brand: Petsfit | Material:  Wood | Dogs: Small Breeds

What We Liked

  • Works as a dog house and a crate, giving timid dogs needed privacy
  • Very easy to assemble
  • Well ventilated for comfort

What We Didn’t Like

  • Wood chips easily, aging the look of the crate
  • Some complaints of floor falling out during use

Petsfit has a great dog crate for owners of small and gentle breeds. The upper suggested weight limit is 30 pounds, and the delicate design means it’s not well-suited to feisty canines.

We loved the country look of this piece. The appearance of this dog house is much more like a traditional end table or storage box than a dog crate. The wooden build means the crate should slot into various design schemes without looking out of place.

We felt that cleaning was more difficult than other models. You cannot open the top of this crate, so the only access is through the small wire door on the front.

The iron door is lockable, keeping even adventurous smaller dogs safely tucked away. We thought this a well-ventilated piece even though it is mostly solid. Holes on the side of this crate give you welcome handholds if you need to move it, and they provide needed ventilation.

The bottom of the crate is raised off the floor, and it’s non-slip, so you won’t see your puppy sliding around inside. This deserves your further investigation if you’re looking for a compact and attractive alternative to a traditional dog crate.

4. Best for Big Dogs: Casual Home Wooden Lattice Pet Crate End Table

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly3/5
Easy to Clean4/5
Maneuverability4/5

Dimensions: 23.5 x 36.5 x 29 inches | Weight: 40.5 pounds | Brand: Casual Home | Material: Wood | Dogs: Most Breeds

What We Liked

  • Made from composite wood
  • Cleaning is as easy as wiping it down with a damp cloth
  • No metal bars, which is a bonus unless your dog likes to chew the bars

What We Didn’t Like

  • Assembly can be tedious
  • Did not come with instructions

We have another composite kennel up next from Casual Home with this wooden lattice crate. This crate comes in five different sizes to accommodate small through very large dogs. There’s no divider included, so it may not be the best choice if you have more than one small pup and you need to keep them separated in the kennel.

We liked that the gate was lockable, so our dog did not push his way out. We think this is a smart-looking crate/end table. The lattice door design is unique and fetching. Designed to resemble an end table, you can integrate this crate into your room without it looking out of place.

We were thrilled with how easy this was to clean. All you need to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth and some mild detergent. The composite wood holds up well to the cleaning.

The mission-style door makes it easy for your smaller dogs to slip in and out of the crate. Open slats all around the side promote excellent airflow and make sure your dog stays cool even if it’s hot and sticky outside.

5. Best for Keeping Clean: Richell Wooden End Table Crate

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly4/5
Easy to Clean5/5
Maneuverability4/5

Dimensions: 25 x 31.1 x 24 inches | Weight: 35.7 ounces | Brand: Richell | Material:  Wood | Dogs: Most Breeds

What We Liked

  • All parts are made from wood
  • Removable tray makes it easy to clean, even though it creates a weak point in the bottom of the crate
  • Study construction for most dogs

What We Didn’t Like

  • The wood finish is easily scratched
  • Plastic tray is a bit flimsy

The Richell Store is packed with great pet products like this understated dog furniture crate. Looking just like an end table, you can drop this into a traditional or modern room without feeling like you’ve got something unwanted in the house.

There are 3 sizes of the crate we were able to choose from. We could open the door fully to make it super simple for the dog to get in and out. It also made it easy for us to move his bedding in and out.

We thought cleaning was a breeze, thanks to the removable liner. This simplifies clean-up wonderfully. The bars all around this crate mean there’s no issue with ventilation. Keep your pup safely contained without him feeling hot or sticky.

6. Best for Small Dogs: Birdrock Home Decorative Dog Kennel with Pet Bed

Birdrock Home Decorative Dog Kennel With Pet Bed

Product Ratings

Ease of Assembly4/5
Easy to Clean5/5
Maneuverability4/5

Dimensions: 2.9 x 2.1 x 2.2 feet | Weight: 61 pounds | Brand: Birdrock Home | Material: Wood | Dogs: Most Breeds

What We Liked

  • Wood with wire for great ventilation
  • Double wide door for easy accessibility
  • Good looking design

What We Didn’t Like

  • Limited to small dogs
  • It’s not chew proof, though it is robust
  • It looks more like a crate with it’s open design

Birdrock Home is a contender for small dog crates, though this wooden end table crate looks more like a regular crate than the other models we tested.

As a well-proportioned crate, you benefit from double latches so even if you have a feisty dog, he should still find it impossible to get out.  We loved the brass hardware as a nice designer touch.

As with all crates of this type, it’s not a good idea to use this for any dogs that haven’t yet been crate trained. As long as they are confident with bladder control, most dogs should feel quite at home in this crate.

Keeping this crate clean is a cinch. All you need to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner. We loved that the pet bed was removable. For owners of small breed dogs looking for a solution to crating them at home without an eyesore ruining the room, Birdrock Home hits a home run here.

The Winner

The winner is definitely the New Age Pet End Table. We loved this crate because it was easy to assemble, clean, and easy to move around. It comes in a variety of sizes and is environmentally friendly. What more is there to say?

These crates work well if you want your dog kennel to blend in rather than stand out. This type of stealth crate also gives your dog some much-needed privacy when he’s indoors.

How to Choose the Best Dog Crate End Table

There are many reasons you might want to keep your canine in a crate at home from time to time. The American Kennel Club advises that dogs be crate trained for their mental and emotional health. If you want to crate train your pup, the Humane Society has some wonderful tips on how to do it.

So, what should you look for when you’re comparing the best dog crate end tables? Here are the things we considered when we chose ones to test and compared them to each other.

Make Sure the Crate Works for All Life Stages

Dog crates are not cheap, and you shouldn’t object to investing in your dog’s comfort and welfare. To maximize the value you get from your investment, make sure the crates on your shortlist will accommodate your dog as he gets older and bigger. The last thing you want is to need another crate.

Think About the Materials

You should expect a metal crate to last longer than a plastic one, even if it doesn’t look as attractive. Most of the crates we reviewed today are wooden, and we love wood for the warmth and softer feel. Unless your dog chews aggressively, this makes the best choice of material for a dog crate you want to blend in with the rest of your room.

Make Sure There is Adequate Ventilation

You should ensure that all the dog crates on your shortlist provide your dog with sufficient airflow and ventilation. You want him safely contained, but not at the expense of his comfort or welfare.

Honorable Mentions

1. Merry Pet Configurable Pet Crate And Gate

We loved the look of this crate even though it is quite an open design. The crate is fashioned from a solid wood veneer that should fit well with your furniture while returning an impressive lifespan.

Panels are removable giving you a great deal of freedom. At the bottom of the crate is a removable plastic tray to keep your floor clean and to make it easier to stay on top of maintenance. Break the crate down and use it as a gate for marking off a room in the home to let the dog play.

Even though it doesn’t break down into a gate, we like the overall design and build of the New Age Pet End Table better, so it took our recommendation.

2. Lugenia Pet Crate

As we edge to the end of our quest for the best dog crate end tables, we have a superb example from Lugenia. If you’re shopping for furniture crates primarily based on aesthetics and you’re not too price-sensitive, this is just what you’ve been waiting for.

Fashioned from solid wood with melamine floors, this crate is built to endure. You can choose from 4 striking finishes to coordinate with your décor. We were able to open the crate from the side of the top, and you can also opt for a right-handed or left-handed door depending on the configuration of your room.

The Lugenia Pet Crate is really in a class all its own, but it is very expensive compared to other models we tried. If you want a more reasonably priced crate with similar aesthetics, we recommend the Richell Wooden End Table Crate.
