Best Heated Dog Beds

1. Best Overall: K&H Pet Products Self-Warming Crate Pad

Product Ratings

Sizes: 14″ x 22″ to 37″ x 54″ | Heating Type: Self-warming | Brand: K&H Pet Products | Style: Pad | Features: Crate pad | Dogs: X-Small to XX-Large Breeds

What We Liked

  • Multi-use as a bed and a crate pad
  • Corner slits to fit any pet crate perfectly
  • Non-slip bottom
  • Machine washable
  • Lightweight for easy travel

What We Didn’t Like

  • The top is not removable
  • Not warm enough for cold climates

If you’re looking for the best heating beds for dogs, look no further than the outstanding K&H Pet Products self-warming pad. You can keep your dog warm without the use of electricity by using these flat pads for dogs who sleep in their crates.

This is a self-warming pad that can be used as a bed or as a crate pad. It captures your dog’s body heat and reflects it back up, helping him to stay warmer while he sleeps. It’s a light and portable warming bed that can be used in the house or on the go.

It was made by K&H Pet Products, which has over 20 years of experience in designing and manufacturing innovative and high-quality pet products.

This heated dog pad has corner slits that allow for an exact fit into any pet crate. Additionally, the bottom is non-slip to ensure that the warming mat remains stable while in use.

The sizes for the heated dog pad range from x-small to xx-large, giving you plenty of options depending on the size of your pet. Keep in mind that this is more of a pad than a bed, so it does not have as much cushion as a bed, but it is still comfortable and warm.

Material & Features

Soft microfleece covers the top of the bed, and a non-slip fabric on the underside keeps it in place. Compared to other materials, the texture of the microfleece material tends not to collect as much dog hair.

The self-warming material is made of metalized plastic, similar to that found in space blankets that reflects your dog’s body heat, increasing sleeping comfort.

Our dogs liked this bed, and we loved that we could take it anywhere and not have to plug it in. However, we don’t feel this is warm enough to keep dogs warm in very cold environments because it does not actively heat.

Ease of Use

The fact that this heated pad self-heats eliminates the need to plug it in and turn it on. Because the pad is so lightweight, it is very convenient to pack and travel with. Our dogs loved using it in the car and in their crates.

Our favorite feature about this bed is that it is machine washable, making cleanup a breeze. On the other hand, the top is not removable, but this is not a deal-breaker for us because the whole thing can be laundered.

2. Best for the Money: Amazon Basics Warming Pet Bed

Product Ratings

Sizes: 18″ to 35″ in length | Heating Type: Self-warming | Brand: Amazon Basics | Style: Bed | Features: Sherpa and Corduroy Covering | Dogs: Small to Large Breeds

What We Liked

  • Budget-friendly
  • Mylar is used for maximum self-warming
  • No electricity needed
  • Plush style dog bed

What We Didn’t Like

  • Cleaning it is challenging

This Amazon Basics Warming Pet Bed is ideal if you’re looking for a low-cost pet bed that keeps your dog warm and comfortable. It does not require electricity to warm up but reflects the dog’s heat back onto his body.

The Amazon Basics brand does an excellent job of providing reasonably priced items that perform well. Shipping is always quick, so you can get this item delivered right away if you need a self-warming bed for your dog without delay.

The length of this bed is described as ranging from 18 to 35 inches. It does not, however, specify the width or depth. Nonetheless, the size range fits extra small to large dog breeds and is reasonably comfortable.

This bed is also quite plush, and our dogs found it quite comfortable. In addition, the sides are pretty high, allowing your dog to be snuggly and cozy in it, especially on colder nights.

Material & Features

Mylar material similar to the technology used in space blankets is used to construct this heated bed for dogs. The cover is made of faux sherpa fleece, corduroy, and other soft fabrics.

With a soft cotton filling, the bed is a very comfortable place to sleep or lounge. However, even though the raised sides of the bed provide your dog with additional comfort, we found that they crush down quickly.

Ease of Use

This bed is pretty straightforward because it doesn’t require electricity. Unfortunately, you can’t do much more than a quick spot clean on the bed because it cannot be machine washed, and it’s too large to be washed by hand in a sink.

3. Best for Comfort: K&H Pet Products Snuggly Sleeper Bed

Product Ratings

Sizes: 20″ x 26″ to 24″ x 31″ | Heating Type: Electric | Brand: K&H Pet Products | Style: Bed | Features: Internal preset dual thermostats | Dogs: Medium to Large Breeds

What We Liked

  • Cuddler-style bed
  • Removable heater for flexibility and cleaning
  • Energy efficient heating
  • Internal preset dual thermostats
  • Only heats when your dog is in the bed

What We Didn’t Like

  • Flimsier than other beds we tested
  • Not available in a small size

The K&H Thermo-Snuggly heated dog bed will keep your pet warm and comfortable. While the dog bed provides relaxing, soothing heat, the side walls allow for cuddling and a sense of security. It also comes with a one-year warranty.

Comfortable and warm, this cuddler-style heated dog bed features soft foam walls. Your pet will be automatically warmed to their normal body temperature only when they are in the heated pet bed, which has a thermostat-controlled heater. Using only 6 watts, this heated pet bed is cozy and cost-effective.

This heated dog bed is only available in two sizes, with no option for a smaller size. The medium-sized bed measures approximately 20 x 26 inches. If you have the space, a small dog can still use the medium size bed, but it isn’t as cuddly.

It is large enough to accommodate larger dog breeds and is not overly bulky.

Unlike other beds that we have tested, this bed does not come with a bulky transformer that needs to be plugged into an outlet, which is a plus in our opinion. It has a simple 110-volt household plug.

Material & Features

The heated dog bed is made of polyester, and it has a cord that is 5.5 feet long and is well-reinforced for safety. In addition, it comes with a removable cover, cushion, pet bed warmer, and a soft pillow.

The bed is equipped with a 6-watt heater which uses the same electricity as a 6-watt night-light bulb.

We love that the heater comes out of the bed. This comes in handy when the weather is warmer, and you don’t need to use the heater. It also makes the bed more versatile because you can pull the heater out and use it anywhere you need it.

Ease of Use

While this heated dog bed has many parts, it is pretty simple to assemble and use. Everything about this bed was designed to be convenient.

The removable cover can be laundered in the washing machine, and we had the best results with maintaining the cover shape by hanging it to dry.

4. Best for Delicate Dogs: RIOGOO Pet Heating Pad

Product Ratings

Sizes: 17.5″ x 14″ to 32″ x 30″ | Heating Type: Electric | Brand: RIOGOO | Style: Pad | Features: Time Setting | Dogs: Small to Extra Large Breeds

What We Liked

  • Accommodates more delicate dogs
  • Heating is turned off automatically
  • Multiple layers of protection to keep your dog from getting burned

What We Didn’t Like

  • Heat level could be increased because it was a bit cool for our dogs

If you have a sensitive dog suffering from arthritis, sickness, or injury, the RIOGOO Pet Heating Pad is an excellent choice. It is also ideal for pregnant dogs or newborn puppies because the temperature of the pad can be adjusted.

It also includes a timer and an automatic shut-off function for energy efficiency and safety. Furthermore, the pad has a 7-layer protection structure that keeps your pet from getting burned. Finally, it has an internal sensor to prevent overheating.

This heating pad can accommodate dogs ranging in size from very small to extra large. The sizes range from 17.5″ x 14″ for small breeds to 32″ x 20″ for larger breeds. It’s a good size for keeping your dog warm and comfortable at night and in colder weather.

A few people have reported the size to be smaller than expected, but as long as you follow the manufacturer’s measurements, you should be able to get the correct size. While we acknowledge the problem that other buyers reported, we did not have this trouble with the bed we bought to test.

Material & Features

To prevent electrical accidents, the RIOGOO Pet Heating Pad is made of polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, which is highly durable and water-resistant. The cover is also removable and made of soft polyester.

Finally, as an added safety precaution, the cord is chew-resistant. While we believe it is a robust cord, we didn’t test chew resistance with our dogs, from an abundance of caution.

The heated dog pad adheres to extremely strict electrical safety standards, including a low and safe voltage. It also has temperature control and a timer, which is a plus.

Ease of Use

Although the cover can be removed, putting it back on can be a challenging task. Additionally, it’s hard to remove dog hair that gets worked into the fabric.

Nonetheless, the fact that you can adjust the temperature and set the timer, both of which are relatively simple, makes it worthwhile. It is also very gentle on more delicate dogs because you can adjust the temperature to be lower or higher depending on their needs.

5. Best for Outdoor Use: K&H Pet Products Original Lectro-Kennel

Product Ratings

Sizes: 14″ x 18″ to 25″ x 36″ | Heating Type: Electric | Brand: K&H Pet Products | Style: Bed | Features: Indoor and Outdoor | Dogs: Small to Large Breeds

What We Liked

  • Internal thermostats heat dogs’ bodies to standard temperature
  • 5.5 steel cord for safety
  • Soft orthopedic padding
  • Removable cover that is washable
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • Warm 80-watt heating mat

What We Didn’t Like

  • Durability needs improvement
  • Not as soft as needed for some dogs

This heated dog mat can be used both indoors and outdoors. Dogs will appreciate the added warmth this bed provides. Even in sub-zero temperatures, this heated pet bed provides dogs with warmth and comfort.

To keep your pet comfortable, the thermostat is set to maintain a surface temperature that’s just right for them. It does not turn on until it detects the warmth of the dog laying on top of it.

Water and accidents are not detrimental to the heater, thanks to the soft PVC coating. Additionally, there is a 5.5-foot steel-wrapped cord for your dog’s safety. An aggressive and inquisitive chewer will have no hope of tearing through this cord.

This low-wattage heated bed saves you money on your electric bill. A one-year warranty and MET certification for safety are also included. Finally, the bed comes with a free faux-fleece cover.

This bed is available in sizes ranging from small to large. While finding a suitable size will be easy if you have a smaller dog, it may be more difficult if you have an extra-large dog.

Regardless, it offers a lot of comfort without being too bulky.  The bed is also very lightweight, making it easy to transport in and out of the house. When the temperature is very cold outside, this is the heating mat that we turn to for our large dogs.

Material & Features

This heated dog bed has a removable cover and a soft faux fleece top. It is made of an open weave fabric that allows heat to pass through.

When your dog lies down on the heated dog bed, the dual thermostats in the bed activate, warming the pad to your pet’s normal body temperature, being activated by the body heat provided by the dog rather than its weight.

It has a 5.5-foot steel-wrapped cord to keep your dog safe from electrical shock. The heated bed is always on when plugged in because it lacks an on/off switch.

Ease of Use

This heated bed is extremely simple to use. Simply plug it in, and never worry about the temperature of the bed. It will automatically adjust the amount of heat it emits based on your dog’s body temperature.

While the bed can be used both indoors and outdoors, it should always be placed in a location that is shielded from rain or snow

The cover is easily removable and machine washable. Wash the cover gently in cold water and hang dry for the best results. In contrast, the bed should only be hand-washed with a damp towel and a mild detergent.

6. Best for Large Breeds: K&H Pet Products Outdoor Heated Dog Bed With Bolster

Product Ratings

Sizes: 19.5″ x 23″ to 34.5″ x 44.5″ | Heating Type: Electric | Brand: K&H Pet Products | Style: Pad | Features: Bolster on all 4 sides | Dogs: Small to Extra Large Breeds

What We Like:

  • Accommodates extra large dog breeds
  • Bolster on all sides for comfort and support
  • Washable
  • Indoor and outdoor use with a 110-volt plug
  • Waterproof PVC heater cover

What We Don’t Like:

  • The bolster seems to be filled with air and a layer of foam that doesn’t hold up very well

With the Deluxe Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Pet Bed, you’ll be able to keep your dogs warm and comfortable all year. Dog houses, garages, and porches are excellent locations for this deluxe outdoor bed, which can also be heated.

When it is extremely cold outside, the thermostats are programmed to maintain your pet’s body temperature at 102 degrees when lying on the bed. While we never recommend that you keep your dog outdoors in cold weather, this bed can help him stay more comfortable when this is unavoidable.

The faux fleece cover and cushioned bolster provide maximum comfort for your pet and also serve as a supportive headrest. In addition, there is no need to worry about energy drain because this bed only heats up when the dog is lying on the mat.

We appreciate that this dog bed is ideal for larger dogs because there aren’t many heated dog beds to accommodate larger dogs. Smaller dogs can use larger beds, but larger dogs cannot use smaller beds.

Material & Features

The K&H Pet Products Deluxe Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Bed with Bolster is made of vinyl with a soft orthopedic foam base and comes with a free washable fleece cover. A bolster on each of the four sides of the heated outdoor dog bed provides additional comfort.

The bed has been tested and certified by MET Labs, and it complies with US and Canadian electrical safety standards. In addition, there are two thermostats built into this bed designed to maintain your dog’s temperature of 102 degrees, even in the most frigid conditions.

Ease of Use

This bed has a machine washable cover. Wash the faux fleece cover on a gentle cycle in cold water and line dry.

The bolster and heating pad can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge and mild dishwashing detergent.

While this is an excellent bed for large dog breeds and can be used both indoors and outdoors, be prepared to pay extra for it.

Honorable Mentions

These are 3 heated dog beds that we tested, but they didn’t make our list of top picks. We’ll tell you why they didn’t make our favorites.

1. Best Friends by Sheri OrthoComfort Deep Dish Cuddler – Considered for Comfort

The Deep Dish Cuddler is a self-heating dog bed that will keep your pet warm without the use of electricity. Because of its portability, this bed is ideal for dog owners who travel with their pets regularly.

To ensure maximum comfort when sitting against a wall, the back of the bed has an extra-tall bolster. However, we opted for the K&H Pet Products Snuggly Sleeper Bed instead because we felt the bolster was better.

2. Pet Magasin Thermal Heated Bed – Considered for Budget

If your goal was to give your dog a little extra warmth, this is one of the most cost-effective options. Mylar adds a layer of insulation that you and your dog will appreciate, and it saves you money.

While this is a less expensive option, we felt it was thin and flimsy, which is why we chose the AmazonBasics Warming Pet Bed instead.

3. American Kennel Club Self-Heating Solid Pet Bed  – Considered for Large Breeds

You get a machine-washable self-heating bed backed with insulating foam and comes in various colors to match your décor preferences. It is durable and will last for a long time, but it is also comfortable and supportive for your dog.

Because this bed is self-warming, you never have to worry about your dog gnawing through the power cord. While this is adequate for large dogs, it was not quite large enough to accommodate our huge breeds, so we chose to recommend the K&H Pet Products Outdoor Heated Dog Bed With Bolster.
