Quality

This pet carrier is made of nylon and includes extra stitching on the bottom of the basket where most other carriers rip out. The included supports are sturdy and made us feel our pet was comfortable and safe in this spacious basket! 

There were a few users that did report poor longevity of the carrier. Though the extra stitching helped, the product wore out in other areas like on the straps and on the zippers.

Users also reported that the measurements in the instructions are not exact, so confirming whether this option will fit your bike is really a shot-in-the-dark. 

Ease of Use

Coming in at our least expensive option is our Anzome Bike Basket. Anzome is a bike brand, which means they craft with bikers in mind! This option is lightweight and holds dogs up to 11 pounds. 

Quality

We found the Anzome carrier didn’t hold up as much as the others, but with a low price like this, it would be a great option for someone looking for something simple and casual for just a couple of trips here and there. 

Ease of Use

Anzome is easy to install and is very lightweight for easy carry. It features a quick-release to quickly fold that basket up flat. The biggest bummer is that it does not come with a safety tether, so if your dog is a jumper, this is probably not a good choice for you.

Style

At the top of our price scale, this unique design does not come cheap, but we thought it was well worth it for someone really looking to frequent the streets with their best friend! 

Quality

For quality, BiKase Dairyman Rear Basket receives almost full marks! It’s made of metal, hard plastic, and mesh and is fixed upon a sturdy bracket for the front or back of the bike. We found it to be very durable, and we had no doubts that this basket option would give us and our pets years of joy.

The only area where this basket lacked was a simple design flaw. It only comes with one velcro strap for stability once mounted, and unanimously we found that was not enough. 

Most users used zip ties to fasten the basket more firmly to the bike, which worked perfectly. We only wish BiKase would have identified this flaw and included the appropriate safety straps.

Ease of Use

This option is very easy to install and with its plastic, metal, and plastic parts, it’s super easy to clean! It can be used for more than dogs too. Many users reported using it as a general storage basket for groceries or other items when not traveling with their pets because the design is so convenient.

BiKase’s bike basket does come with a zippered cover, which was great for putting us at ease that our pups wouldn’t be jumping out when riding on the rear of the bike, but it also means that this is really only a good option for shorter pets. If you’ve got a taller dog, they likely will not fit comfortably beneath the roof. 

Style

The Dairyman Rear Basket is all about function, and not style. It looks essentially like a sturdy milk crate with an added mesh roof, so if you’re looking for something cute and functional, there is probably a better option on this list. 

That being said, BiKase’s design is not a flaw, because it is constructed to be easy to clean and multi-functional, rather than a cute shoulder carrier or an accent to your bike. 

Versatility

One of the biggest pluses of this option is the ability to mount on the front or rear of the bike. Many of you discussed difficulty steering when using the other products on this list, but with Fido bringing up the rear, riding your bike remains a breeze.

This option does not convert, but the basket itself can be used to haul almost anything! We do wish there were waterproof elements or some sun cover, but overall, BiKase is a great option for someone looking for a go-to storage solution for their avid bike trips.

What we didn’t love so much was that there is no bottom bracket, so if your dog is pushing the max weight limit, the carrier can drag on the front tire. We also found that the tether was a bit weak, and broke easily if our pets tugged too much or made that daring leap out of the bike. 

Ease of Use

Petsfit Dog Bike Basket Carrier was difficult to install. Because of this, we didn’t use the carrier or car seat option often. The thought of taking it off and having to reattach it later seemed like a big hassle.

The regular use while it’s on the bike, though, is a breeze! Your pup fits snugly inside with the drawstring opening, and the padding is easily removed for quick cleaning. This option also has storage compartments for any of your on-the-go must-haves!

Style

Petsfit Dog Bike Basket looks like most traditional dog baskets or as a diaper bag. It’s not a bad look but doesn’t scream style either. We liked the bright green color strip and the gray was very easy to keep looking clean and nice.

Users found that the bottom still was a bit weak and the strap system on the handlebars made for a wobbly ride for pets on certain terrain, so most buyers opted to use zip ties to further secure the carrier. 

Ease of Use

The Snoozer is super easy to attach and detach. It’s foldable upon removable and comes with a safety tether. 

We loved all the pockets, but the water bottle holder is at a poor angle and can’t really hold your bottle when attached to the bike, which is a silly design flaw. 

This option also came with cleaning wipes, which was a great addition! We loved having the right materials to keep this pricey carrier looking fresh.

The Snoozer is very stylish with a cozy, modern feel and well-placed pockets and straps. The whole thing looks luxurious and would be a great addition to your bike even if there is no pup inside.

Versatility

The Snoozer doesn’t become a carrier, which we were really sad about, because it is such a trendy-looking basket! We’d love a shoulder strap to carry it around. It does, though, have a rain cover that we found very useful even when it wasn’t raining to keep our hopping pets safely inside.

What we didn’t like so much was the design. It resembles a cheap camping cooler despite the price tag. Additionally, this was the only pet basket on the list to recommend professional installation, and despite professional installation, some users found their brackets broke easily. 

2. Pet-Pilot Original Dog Bike Basket – Considered for Small Dogs

Pet-Pilot is another higher-end pet basket that comes with sturdy metal brackets and a durable basket. We loved the customizable nature of this basket, as it features three different interchangeable color options included in every kit! 

Some found the design to be a little cumbersome, and it was difficult to steer the bike and the basket would rub on the tire despite the bracket. 

3. Petall Dog Bicycle Carrier Bike Basket – Considered as a Budget Option

Another budget option is the Petall Dog Bicycle Carrier Bike Basket, which has a very simple design for someone looking to ride with their tiny pup every so often. We did find, though, it’s not durable enough for everyday use, and the longevity of the stitching wasn’t great.

We loved that it came in five super cute styles and also removed easily to become a carrier. It’s also waterproof and has a drawstring top enclosure to keep pets in. It is missing the safety tether, which we find very important, and you can find that in most other options on the list!
