The Best Materials for a Dog Bed with Bolster Sides

There are a few things to consider when making a dog bed with bolster sides. The first is the size of the bed. You’ll need to measure your dog and make sure the bed is big enough for them to comfortably lie down in.

The next thing to consider is the type of fabric you’ll use. A bolster dog bed usually has a soft, padded bottom and sides. The most common fabrics used are fleece, microsuede, or cotton.

We prefer to use washable fabrics for any dog beds we make, with or without bolsters. That way we can keep the bed clean and safe for our dogs to sleep on.

Once you’ve decided on the size and fabric, it’s time to start sewing! If you’re not confident in your sewing skills, there are plenty of how-to videos and tutorials online that can help you out.

When sewing the sides of the bed, leave a small opening, so you can fill it with stuffing. Be sure to use good-quality stuffing, such as fiberfill or foam.

Once the bed is stuffed, sew up the opening and your dog bed with bolster sides is complete!

Do Dogs Like Bolster Beds?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as each dog is unique. However, many dogs do enjoy the added support and security that a bolster bed can provide.

If your dog is anxious or nervous, a bed with bolsters may help to ease their mind and help them feel secure.

Disadvantages of Bolster Beds for Dogs

There are a few potential disadvantages of bolster beds for dogs. First, some dogs may find the bolsters to be too constricting and may prefer a bed without them.

Additionally, if your dog is a chewer, they may be able to destroy the bolsters more easily than a bed without them.

During the summertime, many dogs prefer to have a cooling bed to help them stay comfortable while they sleep in the hot weather.

Finally, bolster beds can be more expensive than traditional beds, and sewing a bolster bed requires a little more advanced sewing skills than a flat dog pillow.
