Are Lupine Collars Quick-Release?

Lupine Pet teams up with renowned buckle manufacturer YKK to deliver a pioneering quick-release buckle.

Not only is this custom buckle easy to use, but it’s also strong enough to withstand plenty of pulling from more aggressive furballs.

How do you get these collars onto your dog, then?

How Do You Put a Lupine Collar on a Dog

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the sizing right.

You’ll notice many Lupine dog collars are highly adjustable, so you can tweak the length from 12 to 20 inches.

To measure your dog’s neck size accurately, make sure you measure around the mid-point of the neck, tight against his fur. Add 10% for tolerance and you’ve got the right neck size to work from.

As a general guideline, if in doubt between two sizes of collar, opt for the smaller size. This will be less bulky around your pup’s neck than doubling a bigger collar back to its smallest setting.

If properly fitted, you should be able to slide two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck.

How about using a Lupine harness, then? Is that just as simple?

How to Use a Lupine Dog Harness

Getting a Lupine harness in place couldn’t be easier.

First, measure your dog’s girth (all around his body up against the front legs) and add 10% for tolerance.

Next, unbuckle the harness and lay it out flat.

Put your dog’s paws in the gaps between the central strap. Bring the ends up over your dog’s back and snap the buckle closed.

Adjust the straps at the front and back for a snug fit.

Clip the leash to both of the D-rings and you’re ready to hit the road.

Are Lupine Dog Collars Poisonous

Before we push on with our Lupine dog collar reviews, a closing note about the safety aspect.

Some people confuse these collars with lupine plants. There is no connection between the two.

Some varieties of lupine plants are poisonous to dogs, while Lupine dog collars are safe and completely dog-friendly.

Before we double down with our reviews, a glimpse at the core benefits of the leading Lupine collars and harnesses.

Our favorite Lupine dog collar from a deep bench is this wide and highly adjustable nylon gem. Adjust the length of this collar from 12 to 20 inches, giving you the scope to accommodate most breeds.

Like all Lupine collars, the hardwearing nylon is soft against your dog’s skin and won’t chafe him thanks to the softened stitching.

Available in a variety of color combinations with subtle designs, these collars are suitable for everyday use. The best part? If your dog chews through this collar, Lupine will replace it with a seamless procedure and no quibbles.

What We Liked

  • Adjustable sizes to suit all breeds
  • Chew-resistant
  • Soft, stitched edges

What We Didn’t Like

  • Colors fade over time

2) Best Reflective Collar: Lupine Reflective Dog Collar (4.5 Out Of 5 Stars)

Features

  • Materials: Nylon
  • Weight: 2.4oz
  • Dimensions: 16 x 2 x 1 inches

If you take your dog out for walkies at night, it’s crucial he stays visible. The key selling point of this wide collar from Lupine is the reflective nature of the stitching, so he will be seen from all angles.

The width and adjustability ensures this collar is a neat fit for most breeds.

The inbuilt benefit of Lupine collars is the way they’re designed to coordinate with a line of padded leashes and harnesses for a complete solution. As long as you don’t use this collar for tie-outs, you and your dog are in safe hands.

What We Liked

  • Bold colors
  • Highly reflective material
  • Wide and highly adjustable

What We Didn’t Like

  • Not good for tie-outs

Features

  • Materials: Nylon
  • Weight: 0.8oz
  • Dimensions: 12 x 6.5 x 1.5 inches

If your dog needs more security than a leash and collar provide, the right harness can put the fun back into walkies for both you and your furball.

This wrap-around harness is designed to make it easy to get your dog in and out of this thing.

Choose from a palette of striking designs and colors to suit the temperament of your pup.

Avoid any concern with leather products and stick with this hardwearing yet comfortable nylon and one of the best Lupine dog collars you’ll find.

What We Liked

  • Full wrap-around styling
  • 3 different adjustment points
  • Cheerful candy colors

What We Didn’t Like

  • Not the comfiest harness

4) Best No Pull Harness: Lupine No-Pull Harnesses (4 out of 5 Stars)

Features

  • Materials: Nylon and steel
  • Weight: 6.24oz
  • Dimensions: 1.25 x 6 x 8 inches

If your dog is energetic and tends to pull vigorously when you’re walking him, the right no-pull harness will stop walkies with Rover from becoming a tug-of-war.

Compatible with any non-choke collar and leash, you get a great leash-training device here that should help you teach your dog to obey commands without causing him any discomfort.

Sized to suit medium and large breeds, this harness is backed by Lupine’s chew-resistant guarantee. They won’t promise your dog won’t chew through this harness, but they will replace it with no questions asked if he does.

What We Liked

  • For medium and large breeds
  • Great for leash training
  • Chew-resistant

What We Didn’t Like

  • Belly to neck strap not adjustable

5) Best Variety: Lupine Adjustable Collar (4 out of 5 Stars)

Features

  • Materials: Nylon
  • Weight: 2.08oz
  • Dimensions: 10 x 1.25 x 1 inches

Owners of medium and large breeds will appreciate the highly adjustable nature of this collar, designed to be tweaked from 12 to 20 inches.

The 1-inch wide collar offers plenty of support, and it’s hardwearing without compromising comfort. The collar works well for everyday use.

Many of these collars suffer the same complaints about colors bleeding and also fading over time, so keep your expectations reasonable when it comes to lifespan.

What We Liked

  • Fun designs
  • Matching leash available
  • Wide for larger breeds

What We Didn’t Like

  • Some snags with colors fading

6) Best Reflective Harness: Lupine Reflective Step-In Dog Harness (4 out of 5 stars)

Features

  • Materials: Nylon
  • Weight: 6.4oz
  • Dimensions: 1 x 14 x 8 inches

If you liked the idea of the reflective collar above but you need a little more security, this harness is loaded with reflective threads, including the edges, so your dog will remain more visible in gloomy conditions.

The step-in styling makes it easy to get Fido in and out of this thing, and a trio of adjustment points allow you to manipulate the fit.

Although this harness is highly effective, and it’s also pretty hardwearing, we unearthed a few complaints concerning comfort, specifically chafing.

What We Liked

  • Snug fit and wrap-around styling
  • Reflective threads all over
  • Strong and soft webbing

What We Didn’t Like

  • A few comfort issues reported

7) Best Solid Colors: Lupine Adjustable Dog Collar (3.5 out of 5 stars)

Features

  • Materials: Nylon
  • Weight: 0.8oz
  • Dimensions: 7 x 2 x 2 inches

Last but by no means least in our showcase of the best Lupine dog collars comes another highly adjustable example, again finished in a soft but resilient nylon.

Lightweight and suitable for smaller and bigger breeds alike, you can choose from a wide range of colors to suit.

The side-release buckle is much stronger than those featured on much of the opposition, even if the collar suffers the usual issues with fading over time, sometimes also bleeding into your dog’s fur, less than ideal if he has a pale coat.

What We Liked

  • Great variety of colors
  • Available in multiple widths
  • Robust side-release buckle

What We Didn’t Like

  • Colors can bleed into dog’s fur
