Glad and Clorox are two household names with years of experience in home cleaning and neutralizing odors. The step pedal keeps the lid firmly in place, and we loved the Clorox odor protection.
There was no plastic liner, so it’s harder to clean the can when it’s dirty inside. It comes with a ring to hold the trash bag in place, but it was cumbersome to keep the lid open while pulling the trash bag free from the ring.
3. EKO Mirage-T Touchless Rectangular Motion Sensor Trash Can
EKO Mirage-T has a built-in sensor to open and close the lid. It holds regular 13-gallon tall kitchen bags, which is a sufficient capacity for most households and doesn’t require that you special order the bags.
Our main problem with this can is that it doesn’t have a plastic liner so it’s hard to clean the inside of the can when it is dirty. The lack of plastic liner does make the overall can dimensions smaller, so that may be a benefit for smaller kitchens.
Due to the lack of a liner to hold the garbage bag, we chose to recommend the NINESTARS Automatic Trash Can which has the same capacity and features but is easier to keep clean.
